In tonight’s Chicago Fire episode, the new paramedic was out for Violet’s job. Emma was willing to play dirty. She started rumors about how Violet wasn’t there mentally to take on the tough cases and she’s tried to undermine in front of actual patients. Emma was prepared to do anything to get in Violet’s head. She wanted Violet’s job and Violet now knows about it. Violet talked to her friends about it. They all agreed to keep any eye out for Emma. They figured that with all three of them watching for any signs that there was no way Emma could do anything and so they underestimated Emma. Emma was an adrenaline junkie. She didn’t want Violet’s job because she was ambitious or because she craved staying in one place instead of acting as a temp.

Emma wanted the job because she wanted to be where the action was. In one of her many stories that she made up about herself, she admitted something true about herself. She claimed she left being a doctor because she craved the action. That was a moment of truth. She never was a doctor and she never attended John Hopkins. She just wanted to go where the adrenaline was. Emma managed to develop a crush on Gallo after she saw him pull off a daring rescue in the sky and so she really was an adrenaline junkie. She probably only asked Gallo out on a date because she wanted to hear details of the rescue.

Gallo had turned her down on the date. He claimed he was busy. Something that was technically true because he was doing that class and he was also training with Severide on the side. After he pulled off that rescue, with Severide’s team no less, he went to Kidd. He told her that how he had approached Severide to work on his team and how that it had been before she came on as his lieutenant. It was just something he wanted to do. Not that he isn’t happy where he is. He likes Kidd and he came to her before anyone could gossip about it because he didn’t want her thinking anything differently.

But Kidd became angry after her conversation with Gallo. She wasn’t angry with him. She was angry with Severide. She hadn’t known all about those lessons on the side. Kidd confronted Severide who was in fact her fiancé and she told him in no uncertain terms that he wasn’t allowed to poach one of her guys. Kidd was a new lieutenant. She did everything possible to pick the right people for her team. She didn’t want that undermined by anyone. This went double for Severide. She told him not to poach anyone on her team and that was a problem because Severide later heard from Gallo directly that he was ready to join his squad. And so that put Severide in an uncomfortable position.

Severide would like for Gallo to join his squad. He likes Gallo. He knows Gallo will work well with the other guys and so the problem was Kidd. Kidd was his fiancé after all. He didn’t want to hurt her or her team. Severide tried going to Chief Boden. He asked Boden if it was okay to add someone to his team and Boden said that they have the budget for it. He was even willing to back Severide personally. It was up to Severide to determine if he wanted the support. Severide told him that he needed to think about it. He later approached Kidd and he told her about why he and Grissom fell out.

Back in the day, Severide served under Grissom or Grizz as he called him. Only Severide always wanted to join the squad. It was his dream. He tried out for a opening on Boden’s team after a few years went by and he never heard back from them. He thought he didn’t get it. He found out weeks later that Boden had offered him the job. Severide just hadn’t known about it because Grizz found his letter and threw it in the trash. He hadn’t been ready to let Severide go but it caused a rift and things were never the same between them. Severide told Kidd this story because he wanted her to see that holding onto Gallo in spite of what Gallo wants isn’t the best thing for Gallo.

It will work out great for Kidd. It just would cause a member of her team to resent her. Kidd took the story to heart and she talked to Gallo. She told him that if he really wanted to go after squad that he has her blessing. She just wanted him to be happy. But someone who loves raining on the parade was Emma. Emma gave up pursuing Gallo and now she’s trying to curry favor. She told Boden that she has a friend in the hospital. She told Mason how she felt she was being shunned by the team. She tried to pack their emergency bag and after Violet said she had it – Violet later found an item was missing.

Violet doesn’t make mistakes. Not that big. She knows she packed a crucial piece of equipment and she doesn’t believe Emma is crazy enough to risk a patient’s life. She may have accused Emma only she later walked it back. Violet just doesn’t know what happened.

Hermann also had a guy basically rip off everything that makes Molly’s a great bar, but he couldn’t get angry at the guy because their wives are friends and so he had to make peace and he had to apologize for yelling when he first saw the sign to “Olly’s”.

And Gallo chose to stay with Kidd because he didn’t want to leave her so soon.

But Emma used the fact that someone almost died as an excuse to report Violet. She demanded that the Chief mov Violet to a different house and give her 51 or she was going to brass and reporting their secret relationship. Emma was downright evil.
