Biography of Derick Dillard (Age)
It was on March 9, 1989 that Derick Dillard was born to Rick Dillard and Cathy Bynum in the United States. He was raised in Rogers, AR. in a Christian family with his younger brother Dan Dillard.
He earned a Business Administration, Accounting and Economics degree from Oklahoma State University, which was also attended by both of his parents. When his father was there, he played the school mascot, Pistol Pete. Because of this, Derick Dillard attempted to get the role in 2008 but failed. He tried again in 2009 and this time he succeeded.
After graduation, Dillard moved to Nepal where he worked as a volunteer. He also worked in other parts of South Asia before returning after two years.
His next job was as a tax analyst for Walmart, a job he would hold for a year before finally quitting his job in 2015. When he claimed he quit his job at Walmart and took another job, many thought that he had not left alone but had been fired. Speculation was snuffed out by a Walmart spokesperson who revealed that Derick had gone off on his own.
He was said to have left to start his own ministry, the Dillard family ministries which did not last very long before closing. He would later rise to fame when he began appearing on the 19 Kids and Still Counting series as Jill Duggar’s lover and later as her husband in 2014.
Unfortunately, the show came to an unexpected end but then, like others from the previous reality show, he appeared on Counting On. Nevertheless, he got kicked out of the show in 2017 for his many controversial opinions and activities. He was later joined by his wife, Jill Duggar Dillard.
His wife
With millions of love stories, one would hardly come across a character in which it was the girl’s father who introduced her to his lover. In Derick and Jill’s case, they first met after they were introduced by Jill’s father, Jim Bob.
While serving as a missionary in Nepal, Bob believed that Derick and his daughter might have something to work with between them and so he hooked them up. When they started the relationship again, they communicated via Skype and text. According to Jill, who later joined them in Nepal, she was already in love with the man who became her husband even before they physically met.
The two got married in 2014 and are now blessed with two children – Samuel Scott Dillard and Israel David Dillard. In April 2019, reports that he was banned from his wife’s family compound were then announced. It is then said that the two men are about to separate. This rumor was exacerbated by her absence from her son’s birthday party.
Mom and dad
Derick’s father was a policeman who was described by his son as the greatest man of all time. According to him, it was his father who spent his life protecting the public who introduced him to Jesus Christ.
More than a decade ago, in 2008, Dillard lost his father to a heart attack. The man was 50 at the time, while his 19-year-old son was still a freshman at Oklahoma State University.
The next heartbreak to happen to him came in 2014, just weeks after he got engaged to Duggar. He learned with concern that his mother had been diagnosed with stage 4 non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Luckily for the family, Cathy Byrum came out on top and more than five years later she was still cancer-free.
Net worth of Derick Dillard
Although Derick Dillard rose to fame through his appearance on a few reality TV shows, that doesn’t automatically make him a rich man. He has an estimated net worth of $150,000.
He once claimed that TLC never paid him a dime to be on 19 and still count and count. After the birth of his first child, he claimed that although TLC had made money, the network had not paid the bills. It was even then that it was claimed that he and his wife earned between $25,000 and $40,000. However, in the deleted tweet, he claimed they were mostly volunteers.
