Jose Reyes Lopez, the son of the late Jose Antonio Reyes, has signed his first professional contract with Real Madrid.

The 16-year-old attacker joined Madrid from the Leganes academy in the summer of 2019, shortly after the death of his father.

Though he is eligible for the Juvenil C (under-17) team, Reyes currently plays above that level in Juvenil B (under-19) squad and has also represented Spain at youth level.

Players in Spain are permitted to sign their first professional contracts at 16, and Reyes turned 16 on October 15.

He wrote on Instagram: "It's a very special moment for me. I have signed my first professional contract with @realmadrid and I want to thank the club for their trust and my family for their daily support!

"I will continue to work and do my best to go far!"

Reyes is represented by the same agency as Marcelo, Doze, and both have been supportive of the player.
