Ken Jeong, born on July 13, 1969, in Detroit, Michigan, is the son of South Korean immigrant parents, D.K. and Young Jeong. At the age of four, he relocated to North Carolina and was raised in Greensboro.

Jeong attended Walter Hines Page High School, actively participating in the regional quiz bowl, serving on the student council, and playing the violin in the school orchestra. Impressive achievements led to his graduation in 1986 at the remarkable age of 16, and he was honored with Greensboro’s Youth of the Year award.
