Matt Stell‘s brand new song “One Of Us” is out NOW (September 30th) on all music streaming platforms, and to no surprise, we’re obsessed with it.
The Arkansas native has released hit after hit, beginning his country music success in 2019 with “Prayed for You,” a song that spent two weeks at the number one spot. Amassing over 270 million streams, reaching over 20 million views on its official music video AND receiving his first platinum certification, “Prayed For You” was truly a life-changer, and it has only been up from there.
With his current radio single, “Man Made” climbing the charts, we are sure that “One Of Us” is going to be yet ANOTHER success for Stell.
In an exclusive interview with Celeb Secrets, Stell told us all about the creative process behind the track, spilling tea you’d never know just by listening to it.
“My management label team sent [‘One Of Us’] to me,” Matt said. “We were kind of looking for some stuff that fit me in terms of like, you know, my vibe and my style, which is kind of heavier, rocky stuff.”
After receiving the track from his management label team and thinking, “Man, I’d love to cut this song,” Stell told us, “I went in the studio and produced it with my manager, and we had something that we really loved. We teased it on social media and people seemed to really dig it. It kind of exploded for us. From there on out, we just got to try to figure out a plan to release it and release it as quick as we could.”
Along with this hot new track, Matt has plans to release an accompanying music video at a later date, and we seriously can’t wait! Lucky for fans everywhere, the music video is already in the works.
“I’ll be back out west, where I am now actually, but in California the early part of October to actually finish filming that thing,” he revealed. “They’ve shot parts of it, but the parts that I’m in we haven’t filmed yet. So, we’ll head out there then. I think it’s gonna be great. I think it’s gonna be a ton of fun. We’re gonna have some dirt bikes involved and get to tear up a track, I think, which will be fun.”
According to Stell, the inspiration for the music video “sort of went from being a visualizer for the song to turning it into a full music video when the response was what it was on social media about this song. So, it’s always cool when things kind of snowball that way and you get to be creative with lots of people.”
However the finished product turns out, we are SO excited to see the final result!
In our exclusive interview, Matt even gave us a sneak peek into a future project coming in 2023, proving that “One Of Us” is just a glimpse into everything he has in store.
“[‘One Of Us’] will be one of the first songs that we’ll put together for an album coming out sometime hopefully around next year. It’s been a long time coming. I’m so ready to have new music out and kind of a bunch at one time,” Stell told us.
“Singles are great,” he added. “I love having music out, but my favorite stuff gets sent out as an album and you kind of get to listen to it and as an experience kind of front to back. So, I’m really excited about that.”
On top of this exciting new release, Matt Stell is beginning his Man Made Tour TODAY (September 30th) in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and he will be hitting 16 other clubs and theaters across the country after that.
“My favorite shows, you know, are the club shows,” he revealed. “I mean, fairs and festivals are great and I played on some huge stages with some of my heroes and favorite artists, and that’s so much fun in its own right. But, you know, some of the most fun I’ve had is in a club or theater, seeing a band that I’m really into and all that energy.”
Some of the best memories for artists are made on tour, as well. With tons of pre-show rituals and down time in between shows, touring a new city is always an adventure!
“Our pre-show ritual is just kind of, you know, sometimes we’ll take a shot, but sometimes it’s just the band and the crew right there together,” Stell told us. “Sometimes that’s our only moment to get together because the day can get kind of hectic. So, we get there and we get on stage and, you know, that kind of moment, that calm before the storm, is always really special to us.”
