The victim of a shooting, whose body was found on the roadside in Central Queensland, has been identified as 34-year-old Anuisha Bone.
Mr Bone’s body was found along Yeppoon Rd at Norman Gardens, Rockhampton, about 4am on Friday.
He was found with what’s believed to have been a gunshot wound to the neck, and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Queensland Police Detective Superintendent Darrin Shadlow on Saturday told media investigators have identified a vehicle of interest, and are now trying to track down the owner.
The green Hyundai Getz was searched by officers as it was parked on Farm St, Norman Gardens, on October 20.
“The vehicle is a Rockhampton vehicle, we do know that,” Superintendent Shadlow said.
“The time frame we’re looking at is from Thursday the 16th of November to later on the 17th, the Friday, after the incident. We know the vehicle was in the vicinity of where the incident occurred.
“We also know the vehicle has gone through other areas, including Berserker, Rockhampton City, and Port Curtis the day prior, and the day of the incident.”
He added that he doesn’t think the incident is linked to the theft of three rifles from a property on Wednesday at Milman, a rural area about 37km north of Rockhampton.
Speaking on Friday, Superintendent Shadlow said they believe the attack was targeted.
“It’s early investigations at this stage but I do not believe there’s any cause for alarm for members of the public,” he said.
Superintendent Shadlow also said witnesses had reported multiple shots being heard, before vehicles fled from the scene “at speed.”
Meanwhile, friends and family of Mr Bone have paid tribute to him on social media.
“Rest in peace brother,” said one friend on Facebook.
“RIP brother. Too many of you boys falling, breaks a heart,” said another.
“I’m truly shocked and heartbroken. Rest in peace, you superstar! I’ll never forget you or stop loving you!” said yet another, with many other messages sharing a similar sentiment.
