A man will front court charged with dangerous driving causing death after a horror crash left a family devastated and a mum fighting for life in hospital. A man will front court charged with dangerous driving causing death after a horror crash left a family devastated and a mum fighting for life in hospital.

Police say the 61-year-old Mont Albert North man was driving a Jeep at Parwan west of Melbourne when it collided with a Ford carrying a family of four about 10am.

A 51-year-old father, a Clifton Springs man, died at the Nerowie Rd scene between Paran South Rd and Bucklers Rd.

Emergency services worked to break the man’s partner free from the wreckage and she was rushed to Royal Melbourne Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The Clifton Springs woman, 45, remains in a serious but stable condition.

The two children in the rear of the car also suffered injuries.

A 12-year-old boy suffered upper body injuries and emergency services flew him to the Royal Children’s Hospital for further treatment.

He’s in a critical but stable condition.

A seven-year-old girl suffered head injuries and is in a serious but stable condition in hospital.

The passenger in the Jeep, a 61-year-old Kew woman, was taken to hospital in a stable condition

The driver of the Jeep is assisting the police with their inquiries.

He has been charged with one count of dangerous driving causing death and four counts of dangerous driving causing serious injury.

He’s been granted bail and will appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on September 25.
