Jason Benetti is a celebrated play-by-play announcer for the Chicago White Sox baseball team. He was appointed the voice of NBC Sports’ MLB Sunday afternoon package for this season.
Benetti has worked for some of the biggest events in the business, including games in Major League Baseball, Olympic baseball, college football, basketball, and other sports.
During the 2020 Summer Games, he also gave play-by-play for the network’s coverage of Olympic baseball.
Additionally, he has covered the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament on Westwood One Radio and some selected television games for the Chicago Bulls.
Where Is Jason Benetti Tonight?
Reportedly, Jason Benetti will serve as FOX sports commentator tonight. At age 38, he got hired by the network and Major League Baseball team.
He served on NBC Sports Chicago as the White Sox’s on-screen spokesperson. Now, this season, he has also been the primary announcer for Peacock’s Sunday MLB package.
Regarding the duration of his Fox Sports contract, Benetti refuses to answer, but reports claim it is around four years.
Benetti claimed that before formally signing the contract, he had no direct communication with Fox Sports representatives.
He stepped in for Joe Tessitore on an Alabama-Tennessee college football game the previous year and cherished the sense of scale that production had.
What Happened To Sports Commentator Jason Benetti?
The transfer of Jason Benetti to Fox Sports is now confirmed. The Chicago Sun-Times’ Jeff Agrest revealed last week that he was in discussions with Fox.
With Fox, Benetti will be able to broadcast more prominent college football games. He has primarily called Group of Five games for ESPN and a few prestigious bowl games.
“Jason is a top-tier broadcaster who raises the bar for every production he joins,” remarked Brad Zager, Executive Producer, FOX Sports.
He further said, “we are thrilled to add his love of sports and broadcasting to our lineup starting this fall.”
At the same time, Benetti said, “I am simply ecstatic to join FOX Sports as the company has a reputation for first-class live sports coverage.”
Jason Benetti Salary With FOX Sports
As this fall’s college football season, Jason Benetti will be a part of FOX Sports, joining the network in 2022.
Benetti as a newly appointed sports announcer for FOX Sports, might earn a salary of $90,000 annually. However, the details of his contract deal with the network have yet to be released.
His new contract would require him to leave NBC and ESPN, as reported by Andrew Marchand of The New York Post. He would also be allowed to call baseball and college basketball games with Fox.
Over the past eleven years, Jason has called games for ESPN’s family of networks, including NFL, NBA, MLB, college basketball, and college football.
As a result, he must currently have outstanding career earnings for his contribution as a sports commentator.
It would be fascinating to see how Benetti fits in at Fox and what other sports they have him covering besides college football.
